Chattanooga–Cleveland–Athens combined statistical area
The Chattanooga-Cleveland-Athens Combined Statistical Area covers a total of nine counties – six in southeast Tennessee and three in northwest Georgia. The combined statistical area consists of two metropolitan statistical areas – Chattanooga and Cleveland – as well as the Athens micropolitan statistical area. At the 2000 census, the CSA had a population of 629,561 (though a July 1, 2009, estimate placed the population at 690,400).[1]

Demographics
At the 2000 census[2], there were 629,561 people, 250,057 households and 176,043 families residing within the CSA. The racial makeup of the population was 85.65% White, 11.43% African American, 0.29% Native American, 0.87% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.65% from other races, and 1.06% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.58% of the population.
The median household income was $33,952 and the median family income was $40,243. Males had a median income of $30,591 versus $21,864 for females. The per capita income was $17,260.
